Report of The Fourth A3 Roundtable Meeting on Asia Chemical Probe Research Hub

First, I want to thank JSPS Foresight Program and all of the organizer for giving me this chance to attend the 4th A3 Roundtable Meeting on Asia Chemical Probe Research Hub in Sendai. This was a greet meeting that created an opportunity for researchers work in chemical biology field to meet and discuss with each other.

Actually, I was nervous before the meeting because I didn’t have much conference experience. The title of my presentation was “Direct observation of dinucleosome in DNA frame using AFM”. As nucleosome is the basic unit of eukaryotic chromatin, we want to develop a new method to observe nucleosome. Using our DNA frame system, we can place nucleosomes in frame and control position conformation of nucleosomes and the movement of nucleosome can be visualized by high-speed AFM. We hope this kind of method can provide a platform for nucleosome interaction study. I tried my best to prepare this presentation and it was better than my previous presentation. However, I still need to improve my research and presentation in the future.

During this meeting, many talks were really interesting. Many different fields were contained such as natural product synthesis, biological synthesis, drug delivery and so on. There are some fields I am not familiar with. As a student works in chemical biology field, I think wide ranging knowledge is really important. So I think this meeting is really good for broadening my knowledge and keeping learning.
This meeting also provides a chance to talk with other researchers, especially students. It was really great for me, a Chinese who studies in Japan to meet professors and students from China. We changed ideas not only in scientific topics but also in career plans.
At last, I would like to express my gratitude again for Prof. Ueda and all of the organizers for this successful meeting. It will become an unforgettable memory during my PhD period. I also hope A3 Foresight Program will have a bright future.
