Report of The Fourth A3 Roundtable Meeting on Asia Chemical Probe Research Hub

Qianqian Guo
Peking University, China

First of all, it’s my great honor to attend the 4th A3 meeting in sendai, and I would like to thank my supervisor and all the organizers for giving me a chance to enjoy the fantastic research with so many young leading scientists. On the first day, we visited the Tohoku University, where Xun Lu used to study medical science. The campus was very beautiful and quiet and everyone enjoyed the short journey. The volunteers were very enthusiasm, leading us to understand the local customs and culture of Sendai. On the first night we attended the opening ceremony and I made some new friends from Japan and Korea, and all the foreign friends were warm and friendly.

In the oral sessions, many professors presented their recent research work including total synthesis, natural product biosynthesis, drug screening, bio imaging and target identification, which greatly broadened my horizon. I was impressed by the excellent work done by talented speakers. On the second day, I gave a 7 min talk on “Discovery the biosynthesis of Aspergillomarasmine A in A. oryzae”. This was my first time to present my research work on international conference, and I got some valuable advice and comments from the audience. I realized that good communication skills were also very important for scientists to make a fantastic presentation. During the spare time, we also tasted the local food of Sendai and bought some special products. In general, it was a great experience to participant in this meeting and I am looking forward to the next A3 meeting which will be held in Beijing in 2020.
