The Second A3 Roundtable Meeting on Asia Chemical Probe Research Hub

From November 23rd to 26th, 2017, the Second A3 Roundtable Meeting on Chemical Probe Research Hub was held in Jinxi Villa, Hangzhou, China. The meeting was sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and Korea National Research Foundation (NRF) and was hosted by Zhejiang University.

Daisuke Uemura, emeritus professor of Nagoya University, a world-renowned top scientist in the field of marine natural products, is the honorary chairman of the meeting. Professor Jianhua Qi from Zhejiang University of China, Professor Minoru Ueda from Tohoku University of Japan, and Professor Seung Bum Park from Seoul National University of Korea are the chairmen of the meeting.

There were totally 80 presentations at this meeting. The professors who are famous in chemical biology participated in the meeting and had excellent talks. Chinese professors were from Zhejiang University, Peking University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sichuan University, Nankai University, and Xiamen University. Japanese professors were from Tohoku University, The University of Tokyo, Nagoya University, Kyoto University, Hokkaido University, Kyushu University, RIKEN, Osaka University, Chiba University, Kanagawa University, Tokyo University of Agricultural and Technology, Waseda University, and Konan University. Korean professors were from Seoul National University, Konkuk University, Ewha Womans University, Yonsei University, POSTECH, KIST, UNIST, Sookmyung Women’s University, Ajou University, Dankook University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Chonbuk National University.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting provided a platform and opportunity of communication and collaborations for young scientists in the field of chemical biology. There were more than 10 young scientists from Peking University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University and Xiamen University, and 12 Ph. D. students from China, Japan and Korea gave a presentation at the meeting.
The 3rd A3 Roundtable Meeting on Chemical Probe Research Hub will be important to promote academic exchanges and collaboration among scientists from China, Japan and Korea in the field of chemical biology.
Finally, Professor Seung Bum Park introduced the preliminary arrangements for The 3rd A3 Roundtable Meeting on Chemical Probe Research Hub to be held in 2018 in Jeju, Korea.
